Mount Waverley

Mount Waverley Centre Manager

Matthew

(he/him)
Skylarkian since 2014

Hi! I’m Matt.

I’m the Centre Manager at Mount Waverley and my favourite thing about being part of the Skylark team is working with kids. I’ve tried a lot of different jobs, but I honestly cannot think of anything more fun and rewarding.

I moved to Melbourne 8 years ago from Alice Springs where I was involved in the arts scene as a circus performer/coach specializing in juggling and generalizing in adagio, aerial silks, unicycling and ballet.

My coaching career started in 2007 as an Archery Instructor. As a teenager I competed in archery, coming 11th at Nationals and 1st at States.

I’ve had the opportunity to coach lots of different sports like rock climbing, circus and ballet. When I first started coaching circus as part of Circus Dust we had about 10 kids involved and over the course of 3 years we grew the program to 50 kids doing regular performances in a range of disciplines. Eventually I found my way to coaching gymnastics and ninja.

I like spending my free time going to the gym, learning ballet, playing video games (mainly Elden Ring) and reading books. I'm proud of my ballet journey, I started when I was 22 and have reached a level of skill that is fun to train (though there were a solid 4 years of struggle in there).

I'm proud of my work here at Skylark Sports. I’m constantly inspired by the kids and the coaches with the effort they put into helping kids learn, grow and have fun.

We have more amazing people in our team
