Gymnastics for AGES 5-14 years

CONFIDENCE THROUGH MOVEMENT
SAFE, SUPPORTIVE AND POSITIVE COACHING
FUN, CHALLENGE AND PURPOSE
PROGRESS OVER PERFECTION, ALWAYS
BUILDING SKILLS FOR SPORT AND LIFE

A fun, progressive and non-competitive gymnastics program for children and teens

Where confidence grows one skill at a time

Our Gymnastics program helps children build confidence, coordination, strength and body awareness through positive movement experiences and skill-based learning.

At Skylark Sports, the focus isn’t on being the strongest or the fastest, it’s on developing skills, embracing challenges and discovering what they’re capable of – in a safe and supporting space.

In each class, children are encouraged by coaches who know how to appropriately challenge them, celebrate their progress and help them feel proud of their achievements along the way. From the excitement of a first forward roll, to mastering handstands, cartwheels and more advanced gymnastics skills, every milestone matters.

Children participate in age-based classes designed to create a social and encouraging environment where they can build friendships while developing their gymnastics skills.

Using our professionally developed curriculum, coaches guide gymnasts through progressive skill pathways at their own pace, helping them build resilience, confidence and a positive relationship with movement. We celebrate effort as much as achievement, because growth happens when children feel supported to keep trying, learning and improving.

OUR Gymnastics PROGRAM information

More than just movement

The Skylark Sports Gymnastics Curriculum includes 10 progressive levels across bars, beam, floor and tumble, helping children build skills step-by-step in a supportive environment.

Regular in-class progress checks allow gymnasts to develop at their own pace while celebrating personal milestones along the way. Children are grouped by age, and beginners are welcome across all age groups. Whether your child is trying gymnastics for the first time of continuing to build on existing skills, our coaches provide appropriate progressions and support, helping every participant to feel confident and successful.

FAQ

Have Questions About Gymnastics Classes at Skylark Sports?

What ages and classes are there in Gymnastics?

Our Gymnastics program runs for children aged 5-14 in three age-based classes: GymFun (5-7 years, 60 minutes), GymSkills (7-9 years, 80 minutes) and GymTricks (9-14 years, 80 minutes). Beginners are welcome in every age group – your child will be with peers their own age while working at their own level.

What will my child learn in Gymnastics?

Our curriculum has 10 progressive levels across bars, beam, floor and tumble, with regular in-class progress checks so your child moves at their own pace. Depending on their stage, that means everything from running, jumping, landing, swinging, climbing, balancing and rolling in GymFun, through handstands, rolls, bridges and bar skills in GymSkills, to walkovers, beam routines and advanced tumbling progressions in GymTricks.

Is gymnastics just for girls?

Not at all! Gymnastics is for everyone. We welcome boys and girls of all ages into our gymnastics programs, and our coaching team includes both male and female coaches. Gymnastics helps children build strength, coordination, flexibility and confidence while having fun in a supportive and encouraging environment.

My child is interested in competing. How do they get involved?

We have extension and squad options for children who are progressing with confidence and want the chance to perform and compete. Coaches regularly share these options when a child would be a good addition to an extension or squad group. Trial and assessment sessions can be scheduled based on coach feedback or prior experience. Enrolment is by invitation only and is restricted at certain times of the year so competition preparation isn’t disrupted.
