Hey there, Skylark Families!
Hope you're all doing fantastic! We've got some exciting news to share with you all. As part of our commitment to progress over perfection, we're thrilled to announce the upcoming "progress checks" happening at Skylark Sports These checks are all about celebrating your child's growth and development in a supportive and encouraging environment.
What are Progress Checks?
Progress checks are scheduled skill assessments designed to track your child's advancement in their training. They're like little milestones that help us understand your child's strengths, areas for improvement, and overall progress within our programs. Our amazing coaches will be right there alongside your child, providing support and guidance every step of the way.
Why Celebrate Progress?
At Skylark Sports, we're all about celebrating progress because we know it's the key to unlocking your child's full potential. Here's why it's so important:
Our Promise to You
As we gear up for the upcoming progress checks, know that our coaches are fully committed to providing a nurturing and supportive environment where every child feels valued and encouraged. Whether your child is mastering a new gymnastics skill or conquering a ninja obstacle, we're here to celebrate their achievements every step of the way.
How You Can Help
We encourage you to celebrate your child's progress at home and reinforce the importance of effort, resilience, and perseverance. Your support and encouragement mean the world to them!
Mark Your Calendars
Don't forget to mark your calendars for the following progress check dates:
Wrapping Up
As we embark on this journey of growth and progress together, let's celebrate the achievements of every child at Skylark Sports. Together, we can inspire a generation of confident, resilient, and empowered young athletes.

What to expect in your class this month...
Current Theme: SILLY SOCKS
Skill Focus: CARTWHEELS
Brain & Body: VISUAL TRACKING
Visual tracking, or Eye tracking is the ability to keep the eyes on target when looking from one object to another or when following a moving object, like following a thrown ball. Strong visual tracking skills is also essential for reading.
Developing visual eye strength will help children be more successful in school and sport. Various activities are included this fortnight to develop visual tracking skills; catching balls, movements with purposeful hand and feet placement, balancing, knocking down cones and movement games.
Next Theme: HELPING AT HOME (Starts 11th Sep)
Skill Focus: TAKE OFF’S
Brain & Body: GAME SENSE
Games Sense is an approach to sport and physical exercise that focuses on the actual game, rather than the importance of the technical details. This encourages participants to use their own decision-making skills, and develop their tactical awareness and communication skills.
We are practicing our game sense regularly in KinderGym, we incorporate music and fun into our games, focusing on the joy of movement.

We have details of each theme displayed on the wall for you to learn more about each theme and what movements and milestones we’re working to develop in class. The theme info can also be found in the iClass Pro app under ‘News and Announcements’.
Skylark Sports has an established Ninja curriculum that we use to develop our lesson plans. We use our Star Tracking process to track each individual child’s progress in a way that isn’t confronting, or that takes away from the goal of developing confidence through movement.
We know that some children shy away from performance or testing, and some children are motivated by checking off skills and seeing their progress. We are doing the Star Tracking as part of their ordinary class to ensure that the experience isn’t overwhelming or negative for those that don’t like to be “tested”.
Tracking weeks will seem like every other week on the surface, but the team are working hard to record achievements, help kids work towards their next goal, and share this valuable data with you. You will receive an email at the end of each tracking period (fortnightly blocks) for an update on your child's progress.
Block one: Monday 4th to Sunday 17th September
Block two: Monday 2nd to Sunday 15th October
Block three: Monday 30th October to Sunday 12th November
The Ninja Curriculum includes skills and movements in "Journeys” rather than levels as we know that each child's progress isn't liner, so the journeys are structured to allow children to develop their skills across all journeys at a pace that's right for them. These Journeys are;
Each skill in the curriculum has been filmed and uploaded into the Customer Portal and once a ninja can perform a skill confidently and controlled, we will check it off as ‘achieved’. Parents will be able to view the skills achieved in the customer portal (along with an example video) so you can celebrate your child’s progress with them.
Any questions about the Ninja Program, the Journeys, or how to access the Customer Portal, speak to staff member.
We look forward to celebrating everyone's success!
Wave a new program at Skylark Sports, designed to help gymnasts continue to progress while having the opportunity to learn routines, perform for friends and be part of a team.
GymTeam classes are an extension of the Skylark Education Program.

Each person is an individual and an integral part of the team. When one succeeds, we all succeed!

Who can join?
Entry to a GymTeam class requires successful completion of GymSkills levels 1 & 2 or GymFun’s complete skill matrix.

Getting them through the door can be a challenge, but seeing the smiles on their face as they jump, climb and roll makes it all worthwhile.
