Introducing Star Tracking

Attention Ninja Families!

We have an exciting Ninja program update that rolled out this week!

The Ninja program at Skylark is designed for children to learn fundamental movement skills in a fun and supportive class environment. We focus on developing confidence through movement rather than perfect skills, with the facilities and support to continue to grow and progress.

We are excited to introduce “Star Tracking” in our NinjaFun and NinjaSkills classes. Star Tracking is introduced as part of your child’s usual class hidden in their regular lesson. You don’t need to do anything, we just wanted to let you know what is happening so you can talk to your child about it and know what they are talking about when they come home.

Skylark Sports has an established Ninja curriculum that we use to develop our lesson plans. We have been working on a way to track each individual child’s progress in a way that isn’t confronting, or that takes away from the goal of developing confidence through movement.

The Ninja Curriculum includes skills and movements in "Journeys” rather than levels as we know that each child's progress isn't linear, so the journeys are structured to allow children to develop their skills across all journeys at a pace that's right for them. These Journeys are;

- Falling and Landing
- Combat
- Vaulting
- Walls
- Climbing
- Hand Rotation
- Air Rotation

Each skill in the curriculum has been filmed and uploaded into the Customer Portal and once a ninja can perform a skill confidently and controlled, we will check it off as ‘achieved’. Parents will be able to view the skills achieved in the customer portal (along with an example video) so you can celebrate your child’s progress with them.

We know that some children shy away from performance or testing, and some children are motivated by checking off skills and seeing their progress. We are doing the Star Tracking as part of their ordinary class to ensure that the experience isn’t overwhelming or negative for those that don’t like to be tested.

Tracking weeks will seem like every other week on the surface, but the team are working hard to record achievements, help kids work towards their next goal, and share this valuable data with you. You will receive an email at the end of each tracking period (fortnightly blocks) for an update on your child's progress.

Any questions about the Ninja Program, the Journeys, or how to access the Customer Portal, speak to staff member.

We look forward to celebrating everyone's success so far!
